My name is Keith Page. I’ve been a technology entrepreneur in our beautiful community since 2006. Many people will recognize me from The Repair Factory, my shop on Vernon St where my team and I solve computer problems daily. When I'm not at work I'm training as an Auxillary Fire Fighter with the Nelson Fire Rescue and currently hold the position of Vice President.
I want to partner with the community of Nelson to protect the life we've built here. Our critically low vacancy level is preventing families, regardless of size and type, to grow in our town and the changing climate threatens our way of life if we under invest in solutions now.
My focus is to alleviate the housing crisis. Nelson is a city built on young families and this generation needs to be able to raise their own families here. We also need to consider the once-young families that are now the elderly and retired community. To address the housing crisis is a multi-faceted discussion. We need to approach this issue as a Whole Community - by engaging both public and private services, by utilizing our youth to help our elders.
Secondly, I want to ensure our climate change policy is not only followed through on, but expanded and combined with the need to formalized and strengthen our Emergency Preparedness Plan. This will allow us to not only prevent a potential disaster but to rebound quickly from unpredictable emergencies.
A Vibrant Downtown
Finally, the downtown core showcases the heart of Nelson; the vibrancy, beauty, prosperity, and diversity. With the Baker Street upgrades on the horizon, steps need to be taken manage the inevitable disruptions to minimize impacts on businesses and residents. By working to rebuild the Nelson Downtown Business Association, we will have a community forum for downtown business owners to tackle the issues facing our core together. From homelessness to Christmas lights, together we will create solutions to help this area flourish
I would love to hear from you and see how I can help
